Santorini is an incredibly beautiful island and absolutely deserves the reputation it has gained over the years.
What makes this island feel truly special to us compared to the other Greek islands is the unique infrastructure, the indescribable views no matter where you turn your head, and not to mention the romantic atmosphere. Santorini is not particularly known for having the best beaches, so this is the island you visit for the picture-perfect experience.
When to go?
Santorini is usually warm and sunny between May and September. Peak season is from mid-June to mid-August, but the island tends to be quite crowded during this period. At the same time, the lively and packed party streets at night are a big part of the overall experience.
It really depends on what kind of trip you are looking for when deciding when to visit. If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, late May, early June, or September can be a great choice. But if you are looking for a higher party factor and more nightlife, visiting in the middle of summer is probably the best option.

If you are visiting Santorini in the middle of summer and want to see these places without too many people around, it can be smart to go sightseeing early in the morning — preferably at 9 AM or earlier.
Best place to stay in Santorini?
For those who want to stay where everything is happening, we recommend staying in Fira. This is the main town in Santorini and has a very central location.
Oia is also a great option. Here, you will stay in a slightly quieter area than Fira, but many of the beautiful places people want to visit in Santorini are located exactly in Oia, making it very convenient if you stay there. Oia also has an incredible selection of beautiful and luxurious accommodations with stunning sea views.
In general, we highly recommend visiting the towns of Fira, Imerovigli, and Oia during your stay in Santorini.
